Concentration camps during the Civil War — new on the GULAG Map
On December 30, 1922, the USSR was formed. For the occasion we have created a new layer on the GULAG Map «Concentration camps during the Civil War».

First soviet concentration camps operated from 1918 until 1922 and were part of the Red Terror repression campaign carried out by the Bolsheviks.

These camps were initially designated for keeping hostages, prisoners of the Civil War and everyone opposing the Soviet regime. Since 1919, all prisoners were used for forced labour.

You can activate the new layer by clicking «Camp types».
