New permanent exhibition of NKVD museum in Siberia
The NKVD Investigative Prison is the first museum in Russia dedicated to the history of mass repressions. It was founded in Tomsk (Siberia) in 1989 in the basement of the building where the prison of the Tomsk city department of the OGPU-NKVD was located in 1923-1944.

Until 2021, the Museum did not have enough space and the necessary conditions to accommodate an extensive permanent exhibition.

In 2022, the Memory Foundation, with the participation of the GULAG History Museum and the Tomsk regional museum named after M.B. Shatilov, carried out a reconstruction. The renovated museum received not only a new permanent exhibition, but also additional areas.
