The Observers — a powerful play about repression on April 19
The GULAG History Museum and the Object theater present the play "Observers" — a mix of object, shadow, light theater and musical performance.

The main characters are artifacts brought by GULAG History Museum from former labor camps. With the help of these artifacts the creators show the era of mass repression through several stories.

The audience is free to choose whether to follow the story of one day at the labour camp, with drama of human disaster, or to perceive it all abstractly, as a musical performance. As outside observers we no longer have power over the past, but can be more attentive to current events.

In 2021, the play was nominated for the Golden Mask Award as "Best performance in a puppet theater", "Best director in a puppet theater", "Best artist in a puppet theater".

You do not need to speak Russian to understand the performance.
